Case study

Jerkeez 876: a new restaurant, ordering online in weeks.

Case study: a new Jamaican and Caribbean restaurant at 73 London Road, Sevenoaks. Menu, pre-order for collection, logo and four rounds of revisions, live at jerkeez.co.uk.

The business before

Jerkeez 876 is a new restaurant at 73 London Road, Sevenoaks, Kent, serving fresh Jamaican and Caribbean food. New means everything at once: a menu to publish, a name to explain, and orders to take from the first week.

There was no site and no online ordering. The food was ready before the front door online was.

The unnoticed detail

876 is Jamaica's international dialling code. The number in the name is a flag planted, and it deserved to be understood by anyone who read the page.

That is the kind of detail I look for before I write. It went into the copy and it shaped the logo.

What was built

The menu online, so a customer can read it before they arrive. Pre-order for collection, so the kitchen knows what is coming. A logo. And four rounds of revisions shipped, because a new restaurant changes its mind as it learns what sells, and the site had to keep up.

Live at jerkeez.co.uk.

How orders arrive

Orders go through the owner's own card system, with an email and a WhatsApp notification for each one. Nothing new to learn at the counter, no second screen, no separate login. The order arrives where the owner already looks.

What I would do next

Measure the orders. A pre-order page is a counter, and the next step is reading it: which dishes are ordered ahead, at what times, and whether a Google Business Profile with the ordering link on it brings more of them. Then the local search work, so "Caribbean food Sevenoaks" lands on London Road.
